Properties: Orthorhombic, stout rectangular prisms, d20 2.47. mp 384° (slight decompn). Does not etch glass when absolutely dry. Soly in water (g/100 ml): 108 (26°); 210 (100°). Sparingly sol in alcohol. Aq solns have a bitter taste and are acid to litmus.
