Literature References: Fixed oil from kernels of varieties of Prunus amygdalus Stokes (Amygdalus communis L.), Rosaceae. Constit. Chiefly glyceryl oleate with small amounts of glycerides of linolic, etc., acids. Stated to contain no stearic acid.
Properties: Colorless or pale yellow, almost odorless, oily liq; bland taste. d2525 0.910-0.915. It is clear at -10°; congeals near -20°. nD40 1.4593-1.4646. Sapon no. 191-200. Iodine no. 93-100. Insol in water. Slightly sol in alcohol; miscible with benzene, chloroform, ether, petr ether. Keep well closed, cool and protected from light.

Use: In perfumery, manuf fine soaps; as lubricant for delicate mechanisms such as watches, firearms, etc. Emollient.
