Properties: White to slightly yellow crystals, dec 181° (microblock). Oxidizes upon prolonged exposure to air and acquires a blue or pink color. Hygroscopic. One gram dissolves in about 3 ml water. Sol in methanol, ethanol, chloroform. Practically insol in ether, benzene. Aq solns are slightly acid to litmus. Incompatible with alkalies, oxidizing agents, heavy metals.
