CAUTION: Potential symptoms of overexposure are irritation of eyes, skin and upper respiratory system; gastroenteritis; muscle spasm; slow pulse, extrasystoles; hypokalemia; skin burns. See NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards (DHHS/NIOSH 97-140, 1997) p 24.
Use: Manuf pigments, color lakes, glass, mordant for acid dyes; weighting and dyeing textile fabrics; in Al refining; as pesticide; boiler compds for softening water; tanning and finishing leather.
Therap-Cat-Vet: Formerly used as purgative in horses, ruminatoric in cattle.
