Literature References: Occurs in Medicago sativa L., Leguminosae; has been found in beet molasses. Prepd by boiling a soln of alloxan and lead acetate: Deichsel, J. Prakt. Chem. [1] 93, 194 (1864). By electrolysis of d-tartaric acid in alkaline soln: Chem. Zentralbl. 1922, III, 871.
