Properties: Odorless powder, dec 155-157°. Soly: about 36% in water; about 12% in methanol, much less sol in ice-cold methanol. Practically insol in acetone, ether, chloroform. pH of aq solns: 5 to 8, depending on concn. 3,5-Diiodo-4-pyridone-N-acetic acid separated by pptn with dil HCl and dried at 100°, mp 245-249°, and contains not less than 61.5% and not more than 63.5% iodine: N.F. XI.
