Properties: A tricarbocyanine type of dye with infrared absorbing properties; peak absorption at about 800 nm. Has little or no absorption in the visible. Commercial product contains moisture and about 5% sodium iodide as contaminant.
Use: In infrared photography; in prepn of Wratten filters.
Therap-Cat: Diagnostic aid (blood volume determination, cardiac output, hepatic function).
