Properties: Yellowish powder. d 7.57. Dec at about 289° into gold and Cl2. Practically insol in water, but slowly dec by it, more rapidly on heating, with formation of gold trichloride and separation of metallic gold; sol in alkali cyanides. With solns of alkali bromides, metallic gold and potassium auribromide are formed.
