Properties: Yellowish-brown powder. Sol in water, or alc (yellow solns), NaOH (reddish-yellow soln), H2SO4 (brownish-yellow soln). Protect from light.
Use: Dyeing cotton, viscose rayon, natural silk; as biological stain; as an analytical reagent, most often for the determination of Mg; as pH indicator, yellow 11.0 to red 13.0; as fluorescent dye for microscopy. |
