Properties: Needles from methanol or ethanol, long plates from acetone, dec >320°. [a]D20 +54° (c = 0.5 in pyridine). uv max (ethanol): 230, 278 nm (log e 4.30, 3.92). One gram dissolves in 60 ml boiling ethanol, 250 ml boiling methanol, 400 ml boiling acetone. Practically insol in chloroform.
Optical Rotation: [a]D20 +54° (c = 0.5 in pyridine)
Absorption maximum: uv max (ethanol): 230, 278 nm (log e 4.30, 3.92)
