Literature References: Volatile oil expressed from fresh peel of ripe fruit of the orange (Citrus aurantium var sinensis L., Rutaceae). Constit. About 90% d-limonene; citral, decyl aldehyde, methyl anthranilate, linalool, terpineol.
Properties: Yellow to deep orange liquid; characteristic orange taste and odor. d2525 0.842-0.846. aD25 +94 to +99°. nD20 1.4723-1.4737. Slightly sol in water; sol in 2 vols 90% alcohol, in 1 vol glacial acetic acid; miscible with abs alcohol, carbon disulfide. Keep well closed, cool and protected from light.

Use: Chiefly as flavor and perfume. Pharmaceutic aid (flavor).
