Properties: Pale yellow needles, dec 236-240°. Bitter aftertaste. Darkens on prolonged exposure to light. uv max: 260, 375 nm. Very slightly sol in water (1:4200); slightly sol in alcohol (1:590), in propylene glycol (1:350). Sol in alkaline solns with dark orange color. Insol in ether. pH of satd water soln 6.0 to 6.5. LD50 in rats (g/kg): 0.59 orally; 3.0 s.c. (Godwin).
