Literature References: Prepd by adding potassium mercuric iodide to an aq soln of methenamine: US 1226394 (1917).
Properties: Reddish powder. Slight odor and taste. Deflagrates at 138°. Almost insol in water. Slightly sol in alcohol, chloroform, ether, carbon disulfide. Sol in acetone, aq solns of sodium or potassium iodides, sodium thiosulfate and in dil HCl. Decompn is liable to occur when in aq soln.
