Properties: White to slightly yellow powder, slowly dec on exposure to light. Saturated soln is acid to litmus. Slightly sol in water; sol in hot water, glacial acetic acid, and solns of alkali hydroxides. Almost insol in alc, chloroform, ether. LD50 s.c. in rats: 28±7 mg/kg (Goldenthal).
