Literature References: Elastomer made by substituting chlorine and sulfonyl chloride groups into polyethylene. Prepd from polyethylene of average mol wt of about 20,000; contains approx one chlorine atom for each seven carbon atoms and one sulfonyl chloride group for every ninety carbon atoms. Three types of Hypalon are available: 20, 30, and 40 with sp gr of 1.12, 1.28, and 1.18, respectively. Prepn: Reed, Horn, US 2046090 (1933).
