Gold Monoxide
Title: Gold Monoxide
CAS Registry Number: 1303-57-7
Additional Names: Aurous oxide
Literature References: Existence doubtful; probably a mixture of gold and auric oxide: Pollard, J. Chem. Soc. 129, 1347 (1926). "Au2O" has been prepared by treating K(AuBr2) with alkali.
Properties: Pale gray-violet solid. May be dried at 200°, but gives off oxygen a few degrees above this, and rapidly at 250°. Soly in water (25°): 0.04 mg/l. When freshly precipitated, it dissolves in alkalies, but the soln deposits gold rapidly.
