Properties: White, odorless, slightly hygroscopic crystals or granules; pungent, saline taste; slowly becomes yellowish in air; sublimes at high temp without melting. d25 2.429. Freely sol in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone; slightly sol in ether. Practically insol in ethyl acetate. Keep well closed.

NOTE: Incompat. Acids, acid salts, spirit nitrous ether, alkaloids; salts of lead, mercury, silver.
Use: Manuf of photographic films, plates, and papers; in process engraving and lithography; fireproofing of wood; in corrosion inhibitors.
