Literature References: Consists of approx 70% basic aluminum acetate and 30% tartaric acid. Prepn: Gmelins, Aluminum (8th ed.) 35B, 304 (1934).
Properties: Crystals or powder; slight acetic odor; astringent, acidulous taste. On long keeping loses acetic acid and becomes incompletely sol. Slowly sol in cold water. Practically insol in alcohol.
Therap-Cat: Astringent, antiseptic.
