Properties: Yellow glass (easily powdered), mp 52-54°. Less odor and aftertaste than choral hydrate. Sol in water. Sol to the extent of 30 or more g/100 ml in ethyl acetate, formamide, ethanol, chloroform, benzene; to the extent of 5 g/100 ml in tetrachloroethylene and isopropanol.
