Properties: Blue crystals with bronze to green luster. Sol in water, alcohol, acids, alkalies. Indicator changing color near pH 10. Destroyed by strong oxidizing and reducing agents and precipitated from soln by strong concns of neutral salts. Rather stable in aq soln, and may be autoclaved at 15 lbs pressure for 30 min. Dye made up in physiological saline should not be autoclaved.
