Properties: Crystals from ethanol, mp 152-153°. Bitter, metallic taste. Stable to light and air. Soly in water, methanol: both 1.1 g/100 ml; in ethanol: 0.56 g/100 ml. Sparingly sol in chloroform. Freely sol in alkaline solns. pH of a 0.5% aq soln 4.3-5.0. LD50 orally in rats: ~82 mg/kg (Goldenthal).
