Properties: Very hygroscopic hexagonal lamella. Becomes yellow and completely insol on exposure to air due to liberation of I2 and absorption of CO2. mp 740°; bp 1100°. Very sol in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone; practically insol in ether, dioxane. The aq soln is neutral or slightly alkaline. Keep tightly closed and protected from light.

Properties: Hexagonal, thick needles, or plates, or lumps, or powder. Very hygroscopic; becomes yellow in air, mp ~42°. Freely sol in water, alcohol. Keep tightly closed and protected from light.
