Properties: Needles from water or alcohol. Slightly sol in cold water, alcohol or acetic acid; sol in hot water, pentanol, in solns of alkali carbonates; moderately sol in concd mineral acids. Practically insol in acetone, benzene, chloroform, ether, and in moderately dil mineral acids. LD50 orally in male rats: >1000 mg/kg (Goldenthal).
