Properties: Gray or brownish-red powder. Ruby-red crystals (cubic system) by sublimation. Stable in dry air. d415 6.34. mp 1239°. Forms a monohydrate. Prolonged contact with water or dil HCl yields H2 and H2Te.

Use: In semiconductor research, as photoconductor.
