Properties: Crystals, nonhygroscopic. Very freely sol in water. Produces water-sol, colored compds with metal salts. With ferric chloride the resulting complex yields a deep blue soln at pH below 5. Titanium salts give an orange color, copper salts produce a green-yellow, and hexavalent molybdenum a canary-yellow color.
Use: In determination of trace metals.
