Properties: Clear, colorless liquid. mp 4.5°. bp760 128°; also reported to be 131°: Bruckl, Ziegler, Ber. 65, 916 (1932). Distills in vacuo without decompn. Can be stored in sealed glass ampuls. Any purple color developing is due to residual ReO3. Sol in CCl4. Hydrolyzed by water to HReO4 and HCl. Extremely reactive toward mercury, silver and a large number of organic substances.
Melting point: mp 4.5°
Boiling point: bp760 128°; also reported to be 131°: Bruckl, Ziegler, Ber. 65, 916 (1932)
