Literature References: Dried bark of stem or root of Punica granatum L., Punicaceae. Habit. Mediterranean region; Eastern, Western, and Southern Asia; cultivated in subtropical countries. Constit. 0.5-1% alkaloids consisting of pelletierine, methylpelletierine, pseudopelletierine (granatonine), and isopelletierine; mannite, about 20% tannin. Rind of fruit contains about 30% tannin.
