Literature References: Volatile oil expressed from fresh peel of Citrus limonum (L.) Risso (C. medica var. limon L.), Rutaceae. Constit. About 90% of limonene, terpinene, phellandrene, and pinene combined; 4-6% aldehydes calculated as citral, some citronellal, geranyl acetate, sesquiterpenes.
Properties: Pale yellow or greenish-yellow liquid. d2525 0.849-0.855. aD25 +57 to +65.6°. nD20 1.4742-1.4755. Slightly sol in water; sol in 3 vols alcohol; miscible with carbon disulfide, glacial acetic acid. Keep cool, in well-filled and well-closed bottles, protected from light.
