Lipoprotein Lipase
Title: Lipoprotein Lipase
CAS Registry Number: 9004-02-8
CAS Name: Diacylglycerol lipase
Additional Names: clearing factor
Literature References: A specific lipase which preferentially hydrolyzes triglycerides in the presence of a lipoprotein complex, forming glycerol and unesterified fatty acids: Korn, Methods Enzymol. 5, 542 (1962). The normal substrate is turbid lipemic or chylomicron-containing plasma. This substance is clarified by the enzyme, hence the term clearing factor. First detected in the plasma of animals injected intravenously with heparin: Hahn, Science 98, 19 (1943); Robinson, French, Pharmacol. Rev. 12, 241 (1960). Prepn from post heparin human plasma: Baskys, Diss. Abstr. 20, 1146 (1959). It has since been prepd from several tissues of normal, untreated animals. Prepn from chicken adipose tissue: Korn, Quigley, J. Biol. Chem. 226, 833 (1957); from human heart: Schnatz et al., Am. J. Physiol. 205, 401 (1963). Role in the metabolism of triglycerides by adipose tissues: Rodbell, Scow in K. Rodahl, Fat as a Tissue (McGraw-Hill, New York, 1964) pp 110-126. Reviews: Jensen, Prog. Chem. Fats Other Lipids 11, 347 (1971); Desnuelle in The Enzymes vol. 7, P. D. Boyer, Ed. (Academic Press, New York, 3rd ed., 1972) pp 606-609.
