Properties: Powder. Slightly sol in water (from about 0.04% at 10° to about 0.2% at 85°) or in alcohol; sol in dil HCl or HNO3.
 
Use: As preservative for fruits, vegetables, seafoods; in deodorization of fish; as antacid.
