Properties: Plates from 85% alc. Has been obtained as the yellow modification (needles from CS2). The colorless form melts at 48°, after solidifying melts again at 56°. d450 1.045. bp760 300°. Absorption spectrum: Baly et al., J. Chem. Soc. 97, 590 (1910). Sol in alcohol, chloroform, acetic anhydride, carbon disulfide.
