Literature References: Prepd by heating Al(OH)3 or a solution of an aluminum salt with hypophosphorous acid or sodium hypophosphite: Everest, J. Chem. Soc. 1952, 2945.
Properties: Cryst powder; decomposes without melting at ~220° with evolution of phosphine. Practically insol in water. Sol in warm NaOH soln, dilute sulfuric and dilute or concd hydrochloric acid.
Use: In acrylonitrile polymer fiber finishes.
